At just 21 years old, Tsion Birhanu has already shown remarkable resilience and ambition. With a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, she started her professional journey like many young students, juggling her studies with part-time tutoring to make ends meet. But her life took a transformative turn when she heard about BeSingularity.
It wasn’t a chance encounter. Tsion learned about BeSingularity through a lecturer who described the organization’s mission to train young people in sales and connect them to real job opportunities. Despite missing the direct recruitment session, she took her lecturer’s advice and signed up for the program. That decision, she recalls, was a leap of faith that reshaped her life.
“The training from BeSingularity gave me something I never knew I was missing confidence in my own abilities,” Tsion shares. It wasn’t just about learning sales techniques; it was but about discovering her potential. The comprehensive training covered not only the technical aspects of sales, like cold calling and closing deals, but alsothe technical aspects of sales, like cold calling and closing deals, and critical soft skills such as effective communication and customer engagement.
After completing her training, Tsion secured a position with Mad Technologies, where she now works full-time. She also works freelance with Hello Cash, where she excels in bringing in new customers. Her efforts have paid off, increasing her income by 10-15%. But for Tsion, the real reward is deeper: “Seeing the results of my work, whether meeting targets or earning clients' trust, gives me a sense of internal satisfaction. It feels good to know I’m making a difference.”
Tsion’s daily routine is a testament to her dedication. From her 9-to-5 job at Mad Technologies to her freelance gigs with Hello Cash, she ensures her clients’ needs are met, feedback is accommodated, and leads are converted into customers. Her clients’ trust has even led to unexpected opportunities, such as a hospital client entrusting her with their procurement needs.
Despite her growing success, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Transportation remains a constant hurdle, especially given the personal responsibilities she shoulders. Tsion reflects on a challenging time three years ago when her mother had an accident, forcing her to take on immense responsibilities. “Those moments shaped me,” she says. “They taught me to push forward no matter what.”
Tsion credits BeSingularity with opening doors she hadn’t imagined before. Beyond job placements, the organization’s focus on continuous upskilling has been a cornerstone of her growth. Training in customer-focused sales, digital tools, and human behaviour have not only made her a better professional but has also inspired her to dream bigger. “I want to start my own business one day,” she says. “BeSingularity has given me the skills and confidence to put that idea on paper.”
Her success, she believes, boils down to three key qualities: understanding the art of sales, listening more than speaking, and unwavering dedication. “As women, especially, we must stand out through our hard work and determination. Dedication sets you apart, even if others have the same training as you.”
For Tsion, BeSingularity has been more than just a steppingstone, it’s been a partner in her journey of growth and empowerment. She sees the organization as a beacon of opportunity, creating a space where young professionals like herself can thrive in an industry that values skill and perseverance over preconceived biases.
Her advice to others is "Believing in oneself and being willing to grow. When you dedicate yourself to your work and listen to those you serve, opportunities will come your way.”
